Entering Business Financials for Self-Employed Applicants

Use this guide to enter and manage business financial data for a self-employed applicant in Mercury Nexus, so it flows correctly into loan applications and calculators.

Adding a self-employed applicant's business financials

When an applicant's employment type is set to Self Employed, their financial details are entered through the Business tab rather than the standard income fields.

  1. Open the opportunity and go to Financials, then Employment.

  2. Add or open an employment record and set the type to Self Employed.

  3. Enter the company name and ABN.

  4. Complete the Business Financials fields: Net Profit Before Tax, add-backs (depreciation, non-cash benefits, non-recurring expenses, and so on), director wages or salary, and ownership percentage.

Submitting to Apply Online

Business financial data syncs automatically when you submit the application.

  1. From the opportunity, click Submit to ApplyOnline.

  2. Confirm the correct lender's online application opens.

  3. The Net Profit Before Tax, add-backs, and director wages figures from the Business tab sync into the application for the selected financial year.

If you need to bring updated figures back from a lender's portal into Mercury Nexus, use Update from AOL on the opportunity.

How this feeds your Borrowing Capacity Calculator

The Borrowing Capacity Calculator uses the figures entered in the Business tab, not the legacy income fields, for Self Employed applicants. Keep the Business tab up to date before running a calculation.
