There are several reasons you may need to clone an ApplyOnline (AOL) application, including submitting to a different lender or correcting an error after submission.
This guide explains the two available cloning methods, how to relink a cloned application to Mercury CRM, and important broker code considerations.
Before you clone an application
Important
Cloning an application does not retain broker details. You must re-enter and verify the correct broker code before submission.
Additional considerations:
ApplyOnline may cache previously used broker codes entered by admin staff.
Brokers should review the application while in draft and personally select SUBMIT.
The cloned application is linked to the user who performed the clone.
Back-channel email notifications will be sent to that user’s account.
It is recommended that the broker performs the clone.
Method 1: Clone directly within ApplyOnline
Use this method when working inside ApplyOnline.
Open the application in ApplyOnline.
Click Actions (top-right of the page).
Select Clone.
Choose a cloning reason.
Enter comments if required.
Select the lender.
Click Clone application.
A new ApplyOnline ID will be generated for the cloned application.
Method 2: Create a new ApplyOnline ID from Mercury
You can generate a new ApplyOnline ID (MER number) directly from Mercury CRM.
Open the relevant Opportunity in Mercury CRM.
Navigate to the Details section.
Remove the value in the ApplyOnline ID field.
Click Submit to Apply Online.
A new ApplyOnline ID (MER-xxxxxx) will be created.
Link a cloned ApplyOnline application to Mercury
If you cloned the application directly in ApplyOnline, you must manually link it to the Opportunity in Mercury.
Locate the new ApplyOnline ID within ApplyOnline.
Copy the ID.
Open the relevant Opportunity in Mercury.
Navigate to the Details section.
Paste the ID into the ApplyOnline ID field.
Note
Applications submitted from Mercury will have an ID prefixed with MER-xxxxxx.
Applications created directly in ApplyOnline (including clones) usually begin with 7*** or 1*****.
Find the original ApplyOnline ID
If you need to reference the original ApplyOnline ID:
Open the Opportunity in Mercury.
Go to the Lodgements section.
The original ApplyOnline ID will appear here.
Note
Cloned applications created directly in ApplyOnline will not appear in the Lodgements section, as they were not generated from Mercury.
If you did not record the new cloned ID:
Click the Connective logo in ApplyOnline (top-left).
This will open your dashboard showing recent applications.
Locate the cloned application number.
