Creating a custom questionnaire from the Master template

Learn how to clone and customise the Master questionnaire template in Mercury Nexus to suit your business workflow.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Questionnaires allow you to collect consistent and structured client information.

Mercury Nexus includes a preloaded Master questionnaire template. You cannot edit this template directly. Instead, you must create a copy and customise it for your business.

Access questionnaire settings

To begin:

  • Log in to Mercury Nexus.

  • Open the Admin app.

  • Select CRM Settings from the left-hand menu.

  • Click Questionnaires in the top menu.

Clone the Master questionnaire

To create your own version:

  • Select the Master questionnaire template.

  • Click Clone.

  • Update the questionnaire name.

Important
If you are creating a Needs Analysis questionnaire, the name must include the words

Needs Analysis. This ensures the Preliminary Assessment merge template correctly pulls the questions.

Update questionnaire details

After cloning:

  • Add guidance in the Details field explaining how the questionnaire should be used.

  • Review the available Modules.

Each module represents a separate page in the questionnaire.

Edit modules and questions

Within each module:

  • Review the existing questions.

  • Add, edit or remove questions as required.

Each question added to a module will appear on that page for the client.

Preview your questionnaire

Select Preview at any time to review the questionnaire layout and client experience.

This allows you to check:

  • Question flow

  • Page structure

  • Formatting

Activate the questionnaire

When you are satisfied with your changes:

  • Select Active to make the questionnaire available to users.

  • Close the tab to exit.

Changes save automatically as you work.

Apply your changes

You must log out and log back in to Mercury Nexus before your changes take effect.

Note (Blue)
If users cannot see the updated questionnaire:

  • Confirm it is marked Active; and

  • Confirm they have logged out and logged back in.

Best practice tips

  • Do not modify the Master template directly.

  • Use clear naming conventions for version control.

  • Review question wording to ensure compliance with responsible lending requirements.

  • Test the questionnaire internally before sending to clients.
