Pre-filling and editing questionnaire responses

Use this guide to enter or correct a client's questionnaire answers yourself, whether you're still building the request or it's already gone out.

Filling in details before you send the request

If you've already collected information from your client, for example over the phone, you can add it to their questionnaire while you're still building the Client Portal request, so it's there waiting when they log in.

  1. Create your Client Portal request and add the applicants.

  2. In Request Builder, enable the Questionnaires module and add the questionnaire.

  3. Find the module you want to complete.

  4. Select Enter Responses.

  5. Enter the answers you already have. For individual modules, select the correct applicant from the Enter Responses dropdown first. Mandatory questions can be left blank if you don't have that information yet.

  6. Send the request when you're ready. Your client opens their session to find these answers already there.

Note: This works at any point before you send, not just while the request is in Draft.

Recording answers on a client's behalf after the request has been sent

You can also enter or correct answers once a request is already with your client, without needing them to go back into their own session. Brokers also have the option to import submitted questionnaire data into Mercury or send a new Client Portal request for updated answers.

  1. Open the sent Client Portal request from the opportunity.

  2. Go to Request Builder.

  3. In the Questionnaires section, find the module you want to update.

  4. Select Enter Responses.

  5. Enter or correct the answers. For individual modules, select the correct applicant first.7. When completing answers on behalf of a client, add a comment noting how the information was obtained (e.g., "Completed based on conversation with clients on [DATE]").6. Alternatively, you can import the submitted questionnaire data into Mercury and make changes directly in the Financials tab of the opportunity. If needed, you can also send a new Client Portal request for the client to provide updated answers, toggling off sections that don’t need to be repeated.
