When you need to cancel eSign
If a lender uses the eSign feature and you need to: An AOL application becomes locked for editing under the following circumstances:
E-Signing: Once an application is e-signed, it is locked to prevent further amendments. The settlement date field, for example, may appear greyed out and invalid.
Pending E-Sign Request: If an eSign request is sent but not yet completed, the application remains locked until the request is canceled.
Make changes to the application
Re-send documents for signature
Update information before submission
You must cancel the eSign request first.
What happens after you send an eSign request
Once you send an eSign request:
All application tabs are locked
You cannot make further changes
The application will automatically unlock if the eSign status returns as Declined or Error. For example, the settlement date field may appear greyed out and invalid when the application is locked due to e-signing.
You can also unlock the application by cancelling the eSign request, provided it has not reached eSign Completed status.
Cancel an eSign request
Open the application in Apply Online.
Go to the Supporting docs section.
Click Cancel eSign Request.
Once cancelled, the application tabs will unlock and you can make the required changes. Reload the application page to begin editing directly; there is no need to manually click an “Unlock and edit data” button as all related fields will now be accessible.
If eSign is completed
If the status shows eSign Completed (all print forms electronically signed), the application cannot be unlocked.
Important
After eSign Completed, you can only upload additional supporting documents and submit the application to the lender.
Cancel a completed eSign request
If you need to cancel an eSign request that is already completed, you have two options.
Option 1: Request manual unlock
Contact the lender and obtain approval to cancel the completed eSign. Be sure to include the AOL Application ID in your communication to facilitate the process.
Once approved, contact the Mercury Helpdesk. They can request NextGen to manually unlock the application.
Option 2: Clone the application This option is specifically useful when completed eSigned documents cannot be removed or canceled but adjustments are still required to the application. Cloning is particularly helpful when lender approval cannot be obtained, as it allows you to preserve the original eSigned documents while making necessary changes in a new version.
Clone the application and create a new eSign request. This preserves the original eSigned documents while allowing changes to proceed in the cloned application.
