What is a digital signature?
A digital signature allows a document to be signed electronically through a secure online platform. It verifies that the signer is who they claim to be and confirms the document has not been altered after signing.
DigiSign uses cryptographic technology to generate a digital certificate. This certificate confirms:
Who signed the document
When it was signed
That the document has not been changed
Digital signatures provide a high level of integrity and authenticity.
What is the difference between an e-signature and a digital signature?
An e-signature is typically an image of a signature inserted into a document. It does not verify identity or protect against document tampering.
A digital signature:
Uses encryption technology
Generates a digital certificate
Detects any changes made after signing
Platforms such as DigiSign and DocuSign use digital signature technology.
Because digital signatures are tamper-evident, they are more widely accepted in legal and compliance contexts.
Can I continue to use DocuSign?
Yes. If you prefer to continue using DocuSign, you can do so.
DigiSign is available within Mercury Nexus and can be used for Connective Compliance documents.
Can DigiSign sign specific signature blocks within a document?

The digital signature is applied to the document as a whole and appears at the end of the document.
Can I have multiple DigiSign sections within a document?

All signatures are applied in a single signing instance.
Is there a limit on the number of DigiSign users?

Any number of users can access DigiSign at no cost.

What do the statuses mean in the DigiSign tracker?
The DigiSign tracker displays the following statuses:
Draft
The request has been created but not sent to the client.
Pending
The request has been sent, but the client has not yet signed.
Signed
The client has completed the signing process.
My client completed DigiSign but the signature appears blank
In some cases, the signature field may appear blank or show a small dot or line.
This can occur when a client clicks into the signature area but does not properly draw their signature before selecting Sign.
If this happens, you must send a new DigiSign request to obtain a valid signature.
Important
A blank or incomplete signature cannot be corrected after submission. A new request must be issued.
Can my client access DigiSign from overseas if they cannot receive SMS?
Yes.
The One Time Password (OTP) is also sent to the client’s email address. They do not need to receive SMS to complete the signing process.
Can I use DigiSign for custom or external documents?
DigiSign is designed for Connective-provided documents, including:
Disclosure documents
Master templates available in the Admin app
External or custom documents may not sign correctly. If this occurs:
The signed document
The digital certificate
may not appear in the Attachments tab within CRM Opportunities.
For custom or external documents, use an alternative signing platform such as:
Adobe Acrobat
DocuSign
