Use this guide to create task templates in Mercury Nexus so your team completes the right actions as an opportunity moves through each stage. Task templates help you maintain consistent processes, reduce manual follow-up, and improve efficiency.
What are task templates?
Task templates automatically generate predefined tasks when an opportunity reaches a specific status. They prompt users to complete required actions at the right time, based on your workflow.
How do I create a Task Template?
Open the Admin App in Mercury Nexus. Select CRM settings from the left-hand menu.
Select Task templates from the top menu.
Create a new task template: Select the + icon to create a new task template.
Open a new tab to begin setup.
Enter a template name.
Select the relevant opportunity type.
Tip: Use clear, descriptive template names so staff can easily identify when each template applies.
Add tasks to the template: Select + Task to add a task.
Enter the task details, including:
Task name
Delegate β who the task is assigned to
Offset dependency β the date the task is calculated from
Date offset β how many days before or after the dependency date the task is due
Important: Tasks are listed alphabetically. To control task order, label them numerically, for example 101, 102, 103.
To remove a Task Template, highlight, click the Delete button and OK.
Note: Task templates cannot be used when creating ad-hoc tasks from a Person or Opportunity record.
Important: The offset dependency date must be entered on the opportunity before the status changes. If it is missing, generated tasks will not have a due date.
Understand date offsets and dependencies
Use a negative number to set the task before the offset dependency date.
Use a positive number to set the task after the offset dependency date.
Select the appropriate offset dependency from the drop-down list.
What happens next
Once saved, the task template will automatically generate tasks when an opportunity changes to the relevant status.
