Categories help you organise your People records in a way that reflects how you think about your clients and referral partners.
They make it easier to:
Search for contacts
Segment your database
Run targeted marketing campaigns
Identify referral relationships
Assign a category to a People record
To assign a category:
Open the CRM app.
Select People from the left-hand menu.
Open the relevant People record.
Use the Categories drop-down.
Select one or more categories.
The record will update automatically.
Bulk assign People categories
You can assign a category to multiple contacts at once.
To bulk assign:
Open the CRM app.
Select People.
Highlight the contacts you want to update.
Click Bulk Assign.
Select Categories.
Choose:
Apply to Selected, or
Apply to All
Click Next.
Important
Selecting Apply to All will assign the category to all People records in your CRM.
Select the required category or categories.
Click Choose.
The selected records will be updated.
Bulk unassign People categories
To remove categories from multiple contacts:
Open the CRM app.
Select People.
Highlight the contacts you want to update.
Click Bulk Unassign.
Select Categories.
Choose:
Apply to Selected, or
Apply to All
Click Next.
Select the category or categories to remove.
Click Choose.
The selected records will be updated accordingly.

Use consistent naming conventions for categories.
Avoid creating duplicate or similar category names.
Review categories periodically to keep your database clean.
