Use this FAQ to understand what you can and cannot do with your My Website service, including editing options, hosting requirements, costs, and supported features.
Questions about what you can do on your site
Can I upload videos to my website?
Yes. For the best performance, upload your video to an external platform such as YouTube or Vimeo and then embed it on your website. Hosting videos externally ensures your pages load faster and provides a smoother viewing experience across devices.
Can I add newsletter opt-in boxes?
No. The previous My Marketing opt-in code is no longer supported. If you would like to send newsletters or email communications, contact the Digital Marketing Hub team at [email protected] to discuss available options.
Can I swap images on my site?
Yes. You can replace images at any time by choosing from Connective’s stock image library or uploading your own high-resolution photos for the best display quality.
Can I add Mercury calculators to my existing website?
Yes. You can embed Mercury calculators into a non–My Website site. For instructions, see "Adding HTML calculators to your website".
How long does it take to get my website up and running?
After your application is reviewed and all required details are received, we will confirm when your first draft will be ready. Once you receive your draft site, you have 4 weeks to review it and request changes across two rounds of revisions.
Most websites are completed within 2–6 weeks, depending on how quickly you provide feedback.
Do you help with SEO?
No. SEO services are not included with My Website. You will need to engage an external SEO provider if you want to optimise your site for search engines.
How can I amend my site?
Once your website is live, we will send you access details so you can update content, replace images, and create new pages whenever you need to. This allows you to keep your site current without additional support.
Can I add online application forms that link to Mercury?
Yes. We can add Lead Capture Forms directly to your My Website site so clients can submit their details online, and the information will flow straight into Mercury CRM.

Can I install plug-ins myself?
We are happy to install the plugins you request at your own risk. Some plug-ins may contain harmful code or conflict with your site. If a plug-in causes errors or breaks functionality, repair work will incur a charge.
Can I add testimonials?
Yes. Testimonials must be genuine client feedback and need to be supplied by you during the sign-up or update process. Ensure you have obtained permission from the client before submitting their testimonial.
Can I display bank logos on my site?
Yes. You can display lender logos, but you must follow the approved usage process. For instructions, see "Using lender logos".
Can I provide my own website text?
Yes. You may provide your own content. Please send your text as a Word document or editable PDF and include a site map that explains where each piece of content should be placed.
Questions about your hosting and DNS
Can you build my site and allow it to be hosted elsewhere?
No. My Website includes both the setup and hosting. Your site must remain in our supported hosting environment.
Hosting can be transferred to another provider after 18 months, but Connective will no longer provide support or maintenance once the site is moved.
Can I reuse a domain name registered elsewhere?
Yes. You can use your existing domain. We will provide the DNS records you need so your IT provider or domain host can point your domain to your new website.
Do you provide email hosting?
No. Email hosting services must be arranged separately (such as Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace).
Should I switch hosting companies?
No. When you sign up for My Website, your website hosting is managed by Connective as part of the service. Your domain can remain with your existing provider.
We will provide the DNS records you need, and you or your IT provider can update these with your current domain host.
Questions about costs
Is the ongoing cost negotiable?
No. Pricing is fixed for consistency across all brokers.
Do you charge for changes to my site?
During the go-live process (from initial submission through approval), changes are included at no cost.
After your site is live:
• You can update text, images, links, and pages yourself
• Coding changes or complex updates are billed at $50 + GST per 30 minutes
We will always advise you of the estimated time and cost before commencing billable work.
Can I switch templates later?
Yes, however, switching templates requires a complete rebuild of your website. A new setup fee of $1,000 + GST applies.
