Setting your database up to reflect how your business operates helps protect data and improve usability. Virtual branches let you segregate your Mercury Nexus database so users only see person and opportunity records relevant to their role or team. This works alongside access levels to limit visibility and control workflows.
Virtual branches can be structured in a way that suits your business, such as by state, office, or individual broker.
What is a virtual branch?
A virtual branch is a way to partition your Mercury Nexus database. Users assigned to a virtual branch can only view person and opportunity records created by themselves or other users in the same branch.
Users in the main branch can move between all virtual branches.
Create a virtual branch
You need Partner-level access to set up virtual branches.
To create a virtual branch:
Open the Admin app.
Select Partner details from the left-hand menu.
Select Virtual branches from the top menu.
Select Add.
Enter a branch name and select OK.
You must log out of Mercury Nexus and log back in before the new virtual branch becomes available.
Move a user to a virtual branch
After creating a virtual branch, you can assign users to it.
To move a user:
Open the Admin app.
Select Manage users from the left-hand menu.
Open the relevant user record.
Select a branch from the Select branch drop-down list.
Note: A user can only belong to one virtual branch at a time. If they are not assigned to a virtual branch, they remain in the main branch and can access all virtual branches.
What users can see in a virtual branch
When a user is assigned to a virtual branch:
They can only see other users from the same virtual branch in record drop-down fields.
They can only access person and opportunity records created within that branch.
