Use this guide to install the Connective Community on your mobile or desktop device so you can access it like an app, without downloading anything from an app store.
Installing the Connective Community as a Progressive Web App (PWA) adds a shortcut to your home screen or desktop. This gives you faster access and an app-like experience while still using your browser.
What is the Connective Community PWA?
The Connective Community Progressive Web App (PWA) is a browser-based version of the Community that behaves like a mobile app. Once installed, it opens in its own window and can be launched directly from your home screen or desktop.
Note: A PWA does not use storage space like a traditional app and updates automatically when changes are made.
Before you start
You must be able to log in to Mercury on your device and access the Community icon.
Install on Safari (iPhone and iPad)
Open Safari on your iOS device.
Log in to Mercury.
Tap the Community icon.
Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen.
Select Add to Home Screen.
Tap Add to confirm.
The Connective Community icon will now appear on your home screen.
Install on Google Chrome (desktop and mobile)
Open Google Chrome on your device.
Log in to Mercury.
Click the Community icon.
Select the three-dot menu in the top-right corner of the browser.
Choose Install page as an app under Cast, save, and share, or Add to Home screen under Share.
Click Install to confirm.
The Connective Community app will appear on your desktop or home screen.
Install on Microsoft Edge (desktop and mobile)
Open Microsoft Edge.
Log in to Mercury Nexus.
Click the Community icon.
Select the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
Choose Apps, then select Install this site as an app.
Click Install.
The shortcut will be added to your desktop or home screen.
Install on Firefox (Android)
Open Firefox on your Android device.
Log in to Mercury.
Tap the Community icon.
Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
Select Add to Home Screen.
Tap Add to confirm.
The Connective Community icon will appear on your home screen.
What happens next
Once installed, you can open the Connective Community directly from your home screen or desktop without logging in through Mercury each time, as long as your session remains active.
Tip: If you are logged out of Mercury, the app will prompt you to sign in again.
