Commissions Access in Mercury Nexus

Updated this week

Use this guide to understand the different types of commissions-related access in Mercury Nexus and how to enable them for your team. The two available access levels are Commissions access and Commission Splitting access, each providing different permissions depending on what the user needs to do.

What is commissions access in Mercury Nexus?

Commissions access allows a user to view and manage the organisation’s commissions data in Mercury Nexus. This includes statements, loan account information, variations, volumes and reporting tools. Most broker teams use this access to review payments, check loan status, and reconcile commissions activity.

If a user cannot see commission data, ensure that the Virtual Branch is properly set up in Mercury Nexus. Users linked to an unconfigured Virtual Branch will not have access to commission statements, even if permissions are correctly assigned.

Commissions access

Enabling commissions access

Commissions access is granted in the Admin App. To enable access for a user, follow your standard user management process (see Editing and Disabling Users)

Once granted, the user can view commissions information for the company or Virtual Branch, including:

Commission statements

  • Connective Asset Finance (CAF) statements

  • Loan accounts

  • Trial variations

  • Settlement volumes

  • Connective volumes

  • Commissions payment calendar

  • Interim upfronts

  • Commission notifications

  • Invoices

  • CAF invoices

  • Run reports

What is Commission Splitting access?

Commission Splitting access allows a user to create and manage payees, set commission splits on loan accounts, and configure templates for recurring arrangements. This access is more sensitive, as it affects how commissions are distributed internally.

This access is also a prerequisite for enabling Payee access, which allows users to view and manage their commission statements.

Enabling Commission Splitting access

A Principal Owner or Director must email [email protected] to request Commission Splitting access for a user.

After the request is approved, configure the payee profile to ensure they can view their commission statements. This step is essential for granting full access.

Commission Splitting & Payee access gives the user the ability to:

Note: Users in Virtual Branches may not be given Commission Splitting Access.

What happens next

After access is granted, the user will see the relevant Commissions or Payee Split options appear in Mercury Nexus. If access does not display as expected, confirm that permissions have been set correctly in the Admin App or check for restrictions related to Virtual Branch structures. If the issue persists, verify that the Virtual Branch is correctly set up and that the user is linked to it. Without this configuration, commission data may not be visible.

Troubleshooting Commission Visibility Issues

If a user cannot see commission reports despite having the necessary permissions, consider the following steps:

  1. Verify Virtual Branch Setup: Ensure that the Virtual Branch is created in Mercury Nexus. If the Virtual Branch is not set up, users linked to it will not see commission statements, even if permissions like Commissions Access are enabled.

  2. Link User to Virtual Branch: Confirm that the user is correctly linked to the Virtual Branch. Only then will commission statements for loans and payees tied to that branch appear.
