Use this guide to understand how birthday SMS messages are sent and how you can check which clients have received them through Mercury Nexus.
What is the birthday SMS feature?
The birthday SMS feature automatically sends a “Happy Birthday” text message to eligible clients on their birthday.
This feature is included in the Lite Touch and Premium Digital Marketing Hub plans and is sent from your Mercury Nexus account.
Decide which clients receive a birthday SMS
A client will receive a birthday SMS if both of the following are recorded on their contact profile in Mercury Nexus:
Date of birth
The Birthday SMS category, labelled “MM - sms”
Note: If either the date of birth or the SMS category is missing, the birthday SMS will not be sent.
How birthday SMS messages are sent
Birthday SMS messages are sent daily in batches. Each batch includes all clients whose birthday falls on that date and meets the eligibility criteria.
Check which contacts received a birthday SMS
To view a list of contacts who have received a birthday SMS:
Go to the CRM app in Mercury Nexus.
From the left-hand menu, select Reports.
At the top of the page, open the Database activity tab.
Click SMS batches.
Use the filters in the left panel to adjust the date range if needed.
Select the relevant Birthday SMS batch for your chosen date.
Review the individual SMS messages sent to each contact in the bottom table.
Tip: The report defaults to showing SMS batches from the past seven days.
What happens next
Once you identify the SMS batch, you can confirm:
Which contacts received the birthday SMS
The send date
The total number of messages included in the batch
This helps you track engagement and confirm automated messages are sending as expected.
